LA MUSICA SURF
La musica surf era strettamente associata alla cultura del surf, la cultura giovanile nata in quel periodo sulle spiagge della California meridionale. Pur essendo suonata da musicisti bianchi e diretta ad un pubblico bianco, la surf music fu profondamente influenzata dalla musica nera.
La prima ondata di surf music fu lanciata da Dick Dale ed il suo singolo 'Let's Go Trippin'.
Il singolo ebbe un successo considerevole limitatamente alla California; in seguito, tuttavia, ispirò altre band come The Chantays e Surfaris.
La seconda ondata del surf è stata condotta dai Beach Boys, che aggiunsero lo stile Pop dei Four Freshmen ai ritmi di base di Chuck Berry al Surf. Gruppi come Jan & Dean e Ronny & the Daytonas si ispirarono alla corrente surf, ma i Beach Boys sono considerati da molti, l'ultima band Surf, semplicemente perché, assieme alla musica, conservarono i testi trattanti il surf e la spiaggia.
Tuttavia, il sound della surf music rimase un'ispirazione per i chitarristi degli anni sessanta ed il genere tornò popolare negli anni novanta, grazie ad alcune band che ripercorsero la strada dei loro predecessori, dando vita al Surf Revival. (Wikipedia)

THE SURF MUSIC
The surf music was tightly associated to the culture of the surf, the young culture born in that period on the beaches of the southern California. Being also played by white musicians and direct to a white public, the surf music was deeply influenced by the black music.
The first wave of surf music was launched by Dick Dale and its individual 'Let's Go Trippin'.
The individual was limitedly successful to the California; subsequently, nevertheless, it inspired other band as The Chantays and Surfaris.
The second wave of the surf music has been conducted by the Beach Boys, that added the Pop style of the Four Freshmen to the basic rhythms of Chuck Berry to the Surf music. Groups as Jan & Dean and Ronny & the Daytonas were inspired to the surf current , but the Beach Boys are considered from many, the last Surf band, simply because, together with the music, they preserved the texts about the surf and the beach.
Nevertheless, the sound of the surf music remained an inspiration for the guitarists of the sixties and the kind returned popular in the nineties, thanks to some bands that went through road of their predecessors, giving life to the Surf Revival.(Wikipedia)
